Worship : Daily worship rituals are performed both in the morning and in the evening and the theerthaprasadam is distributed among the devotees assembled. Special ablutions such as that with honey are performed on full moon day. Special full moon days are in the months of Chitra, Kaarthikai, Thai and Panguni. Aanithirumanjanam and special prayer rituals on Arudra day are being performed. Athirudrayagam and ShathaChadiyagam were performed for eleven days between 12.11.2007 and 22.11.2007 for the wellbeing of the visitors to the temple and for the entire world. Wonderful Flagpole. The dvajasthamba (flagpole) that will be installed in the Mahamantapam is very special. The information we find in the palm leaf manuscripts on several fields such as astronomy, anatomy, wisdom and science some sections of which are even in English is completely overwhelming.
Some of the special features pointed out by the palm leaf manuscripts : All the instructions-how to construct the temple, materials that should be used for the flagpole, their significance, the special benefits that the lingam would confer on visitors etc. Were all found in the original palm leaf manuscripts. The following section lists the information obtained from the palm leaves, some sections of which were in English Location of the Temple : Even though the size of the paashana murthy is small, its fames is unsurpassable. When the question of where to install the dvajasthamba arose, the palm leaf manuscripts gave the exact location and dimensions as follows: It should be two feet wide, in the middle of the 21 ft.Mahamantapam, 2ft.towards the sanctum sanctorum. When the dvajasthamba is near the sanctum sanctorum where a drip with a tank is present, it will attract the forces placed within the four fans and the hanging bells and prevent the forces from affecting the sanctum
Height : Hence, the dvajasthamba should be installed at the same height as the sacred pots installed at top of the sanctum.
The attracting pole : The dvajasthamba will attract the thunder, lightning and planetary powers that emerge during summer and rainy months and equalized them. Hence, the dvajasthamba can be called “the thunder and lighting arresting antenna”.
Special flagpole-its uniaueness : The dvajasthamba in several temples is used only as a pole where the flag is hoisted and taken down during different occasions. In some temples it is even built with inaccurate measurements. Thus, the construction and the function of the dvajasthamba in the Chandrasekara Somanatha Paashanalinga temple is very special.
Rare lingam-its uniqueness : Thimiri Paashaanalinga cannot be found anywhere else. It is not a mere lingam but one with special radiations (radiation waves travel) that can travel great distances. All humans require 0.0001% of moons radiation in their body for their well being. The Thimiri Paashana lingam has the capacity to attract moon’s radiations. As the Thimiri Paashanam is made specially to attract the moon’s radiations, the lingam is called Chandra sekara Somanatha easwarar. Sacred ablutions are permitted only on full moon days (pournami days) as the products of the ablution will contain the rays of the moon then. Hence, the Lingam is also called “Chandra Kaantha Paashana lingam”. When materials for sacred ablution are either poured or smeared over the lingam, the moon’s radiation penetrates those substances within two seconds. For example, if a valampuri conch amount of milk is poured over the lingam the moon’s radiation penetrates the milk within two seconds. When the devotees partake the Prasadham, it balances the extent moon’s radiation in their bodies to be around 0.0001%. If the level exceeds this limit they are afflicted by nervous disorders. “(as given in the palm leaf)”-they will be afflicted by “LUNARTIC TROUBLE”. The lunar rays will remain in the sacred objects for up to three hours only, after which they merge with space. The milk is alsospoilt then. Hence, one should consume the milk from the sacred ablution within three hours. When the milk, sand wood paste, coconut water or sacred ash touches our body, it grants us wellbeing by balancing the chandrakala or moon’s rays in our body. Besides the moon’s rays, the emblem of Siva (lingam) attracts the rays of the nine planets (Navagraha) towards itself and dissolves them in the products used for the ablution. Thus, devotiees who consume these sacred products are freed from the affects of the nine planets also. The palm leaf manuscript says, “sakala graha sattuva tatttuvam abidehatthil ullathu” (the essence of all the planets is present in the sacred ablution). The dvajashtamba is very important as the lingam remains as a radiating poison rock. Generally a dvajasthamba is not constructed to add beauty to a temple. It is placed there to attract planetary radiations in the ascendance (aarohanam) and descendance (avarohanam) mode and round it off within itself thus serving as a protection for the people, the boundary and the temple building. Measurements of the wood and its form : Fig and aloe woods can be used to construct the circular part of the dvajasthamba but not piple, ficus, margosa, ebony or deodar woods. It should have a diameter of 1 ½ feet or 18 inches. Copper plate is accepted but not brass plate.
The base : It should be a square. The images of moon, sun, Vinayag and linga should be embossed thus creating an ideal state.
Physical and mental wellbeing : When those with nervous disorders, heart problems and hypertension touch the dvajasthamba and worship it, it gives them a shock treatment. The secret behind the universal electronic store chamber form of somanatha Chandrasekara temple is that those who are suffering from mental diseases, depression and loss of memory will benefit by worshipping the dvajasthamba through the sacred touch worship ritual. Those who doubt it will realize it when they have firsthand experience of it.
The great panacea that will rid all the three diseases : Just as how the power of the Sun and the Moon does not decrease over time this paashaana lingam remains with its immense power and fully completeness. When pure water, honey, milk, sacred ash, bilva leaves, rock candy and other medicinal products listed by Saga Agasthya are offered to the lingam through sacred ablution and consumed with devotion skin problems, mental problems, diabetes, hypertension and nervous disorders encountered these days will be cured. Emerging by itself and showering its grace : Some of those who were cured from diseases and other problems do not even know the name of the town Thimiri. For some of us this may be hard to believe. Only one episode is recounted here for brevity. When Advocate Mr.M.Venkatesan from Thanjavoor was planning to get a kidney operation at a hospital in Chennai due to medical reasons and physical reasons the surgery was hampered. They checked Jeeva Arul Naadi with Thanjai Thiru.Ganesan. It was revealed that the sacred water prasadam from Thimiri lingam is only recourse to overcome this obstacle. His relative came to thimiri, collected the sacred water and took it to him. He was cured of this disease is now practicing actively at Thanajvoor. Several have benefited from the grace of this Lord, the one who is more merciful than a mother, and are living happily. We are not recounting them here for lack of space.
Miracles in the recent times : Several people are visiting this temple following various naadi revelations that the sacred water from the Thimiri paashana lingam is the only panacea. Several leading naadi astrologers are visiting this temple after realizing about this temple from their naadis.
Why wait? The Paashaana Lingam that was hidden in the deep waters for five hundred years and within the glass case for quarter of a century is now standing tall inside the beautifully constructed glass aavudaiyaar. It is inspiring to hear the greatness of this paashaana lingam from several who have received its beneficial grace. It is a great boon to be living in the times when this lingam is present. If we do not see these miracles even when we have the sight and not hear about it even when we have the capacity to hear it is if we ungrateful to the Divine. Some places are famous because of Saints! Some places are famous because of the Lord! Why waste time without seeing the Lord who surpassed time? Let us worship him and receive his grace! Thiruchittrambalam If we do not bathe in the Ganga it is not who is the loser, we are the losers. Let us worship wholeheartedly by visiting and enjoying the beautiful form of paashaana Lingeswara, replete with sanctity-the One who removes the disease of birth by revealing Himself and receive his blessings.
